Announcing 2014 Recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Teaching Advocacy

Dear Colleagues:

This year when we gather in Gulfport for EATS we will honor a great teacher and even better friend. He will join the ranks of other distinguished recipients of this award, including Terry MacCarthy, Thomas Mauet, Warren Wolfson, Barbara Bergman, Jim Seckinger, Eddie Ohlbaum and Susan Poehls.
This year's recipient is Stetson's own Professor Emeritus Bill Eleazer. Here is the press release:

Professor Emeritus William Eleazer selected for Stetson’s Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Teaching Advocacy

GULFPORT, Fla. Professor Emeritus William Eleazer has been selected to receive Stetson University’s Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Teaching Advocacy on May 21 on the Gulfport campus.

Professor Eleazer helped establish Stetson's reputation for excellence in ethical and effective trial advocacy.

“Bill Eleazer was a ferocious competitor who coached with grace, dignity and the utmost professionalism. He then shared everything he knew with anyone who asked,” said Stetson University Professor Excellence in Trial Advocacy Charles Rose. “The colonel” understood that we all have a duty to share our craft. His professional examples formed the core of what it means to be a Stetson Advocate.”

Since the rankings began in 1995, Stetson’s trial advocacy program has been ranked the top school in the nation for advocacy 15 times and has consistently ranked among the top programs for legal writing by U.S. News.

Professor Eleazer will be presented with the lifetime achievement award during Stetson’s annual Educating Advocates: Teaching Advocacy Skills conference, May 20-24 in Gulfport, Fla.
The EATS conference was developed to help educators to hone their teaching skills and empower their students to become better advocates. Conference attendees learn the nationally renowned Stetson method of advocacy and network with some of the most recognized names in advocacy teaching.
